Boating At Periyar Lake

The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation organizes 1.05-hour boating trips at Thekkady, taking tourists across the artificial lake near the sanctuary. Visitors frequently spot herds of elephants or families of deer wandering close to the water.

Bamboo Rafting

Enjoy a day-long rafting and trekking adventure through the lush forests of the Periyar Tiger Reserve. This program offers an unforgettable journey across Periyar Lake and through pristine habitats, with chances to see elephants, gaur, and sambar up close. Each of the three rafts can accommodate up to 5 visitors, all departing simultaneously.

Local SightSeeing

Experience a Jeep expedition through this scenic landscape, offering close views of areas unreachable on foot. The journey includes lush vegetation, dense forests, cascading waterfalls, and aromatic spice plantations.

Jungle Jeep Safari

The Jeep safari to Gavi, a picturesque area, is a top off-the-beaten-path destination perfect for a wilderness retreat. It features trekking, bird watching, canoeing, and lodging facilities.

Nature Walk

This interpretative program provides a great chance to observe birds, butterflies, and other wildlife. The trail winds through evergreen and moist deciduous forests with marshy grasslands. Experience nature's sights, sounds, and scents. Each slot accommodates up to 6 people, with two routes available daily.

Jungle Scout

This three-hour night trek offers a rare chance to observe Periyar Tiger Reserve's nocturnal wildlife, including civets, mouse deer, flying squirrels, and various night birds. Accompanied by forest watchers and guides, participants also help protect the Reserve's buffer zones. Good physical and mental fitness is required. Three slots are available on two routes.

Border Hiking

This conservation-focused trek starts at 8:00 AM and ends in the evening, covering undulating terrain between 900 and 1300 MSL. Serious trekkers can explore the lofty escarpments and vast plains of Periyar Tiger Reserve, often spotting gaur, sloth bears, elephants, and sambar, along with numerous birds and butterflies. Two routes are available, each accommodating up to 6 visitors, accompanied by a guide and a forest guard.
